Video of water frozen in time
Using frame rate trickery Youtuber mrbibio was able to film water drops as if they’re frozen in mid air. By pressing a water tube against a speaker, mrbibio was able to control the vibration frequency of the water flowing through the tube. He then adjusted the pulses of the water to match up with the frame rate of his Canon 5D Mark II. The result is a video of the water looking as though it’s frozen in time.

Canon announce two new cameras: The 1D C and C500
Canon have announced two new 4K cameras, the 1D C and the C500. While the 1D C offers the same still capabilities as the 1D X, including the new focus system and sensitivity through ISO 204,800, the camera can only jump up to ISO 25,600 in video mode. Likewise, the C500 offers the same ISO range as the C300 — ISO 320-20,000. Not planning to exclusively capture 4k footage? The cameras are also fully equipped for shooting 1080p. The C500 offers both 2048 x 1080 and 1920 x 1080 with either 12-bit or 10-bit 4:4:4 60p compressed RAW. There’s also an option to jump up to 120 frames-per-second, with 12-bit or 10-bit 4:2:2 YCC output. With the 1D C, you can shoot standard-format 1080p video at an uncompressed setting with 8-bit 4:2:2 Clean HD via HDMI, or you can send 4:2:0 1080p clips to the CF card — both at up to 60 fps.

Ripley and Ripley host the first Procentre Seminar
Last Friday Ripley and Ripley hosted the first of the Procentre Seminars to a resounding success. The sold out workshop was held at the Hasselblad Studio in Hoxton.
The challenge was to photograph a Harley Davidson in the studio and produce a finished, retouched image by the end of the day. This allowed everyone to observe a professional automobile photographer light, shoot, edit and retouch from start to finish.
The atmosphere was friendly and informal. Photographers of all levels came, some to learn the basics of car photography, others more experienced came to pick up tips and to watch the technique and approach Ripley and Ripley are famous for.
Feedback from all the photographers has been extremely positive, there is already demand for a second workshop.
Here is the final image, all shot and retouched in one day. There are more seminars taking place soon, check out the Procentre website to read about them. Places are disappearing fast so contact soon!
